I Burn For You by Sting

Tabs

STING 'I BURN FOR YOU' (FROM THE MOVIE BRIMSTONE AND TREACLE)
This song is also on the Sting live album 'Bring on the night'
but this is NOT anywhere near that version!

Hi there this is a simple way I play 'I Burn for you' on
electric and acoustic guitar.
I have never seen it anywhere in tab so I thought I would post it.
I hope it helps someone out.

I generally play this with a light strumming style. If you play
the bottom three notes of each chord with the bass Chord diagramE MajorE note at the
begining you will see that it resembles the song.

This transcript by Sponnielad ([email protected])
This file is all my own work apart from the music and lyrics which
Sting wrote lol.

   __________ _________
  | Verse | |Chorus Chord diagramA augmentedA |
E----7-------5---------------3-------5---------------------------
B----8-------5---------------5-------5---------------------------
G----9-------7---------------4-------7---------------------------
D----9-------7---------------5-------7---------------------------
A----7-------7---------------3-------5---------------------------
E----0-------0---------------X-------X---------------------------

Use the first 2 chords for the verse (Now that I have found you
in the coolth of your eveining smile...)

Be careful to leave the bass Chord diagramE MajorE string open during the strumming
of both chords.

The second 2 chords are part of the chorus (Though and ocean
soothes my head.....)

E---0-------2-------7-------5------------------------------------
B---0-------2-------7-------5------------------------------------
G---2-------4-------9-------7------------------------------------
D---2-------4-------9-------7------------------------------------
A---2-------2-------7-------5------------------------------------
E---X-------X-------0-------X------------------------------------

These 4 chords are for the second part of the chorus (I burn for
you...)

Then it goes back to the first 2 chords again for the second
verse.
  _________ __________
  | Verse 3 | |Chorus 2a |
E---4-------2-----------0------2----------------------------
B---5-------2-----------2------2------------------------------
G---6-------4-----------1------4------------------------------
D---6-------4-----------2------4------------------------------
A---4-------4-----------0------2------------------------------
E---X-------X-----------X------X------------------------------

This is when it jumps key for the latter verse
although the key goes up not down but it's a bit tricky to play
at the 16th fret. (Stars will fall from dark skies.....)
  __________________________
  | Chorus 2b |
E---2-------4-------0--------0----------------------------------
B---2-------4-------0--------0-----------------------------------
G---2-------4-------6--------4-----------------------------------
D---4-------6-------6--------4-----------------------------------
A---4-------6-------4--------2-----------------------------------
E---2-------4-------X--------X-----------------------------------

And these are the last 4 chords. I haven't added the bass line
that is played on the exit as it's a bit too tricky to play with
the chords.

E----------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------------
A-------4--4--4--4-----2--------------2--2-----------------------
E----4--------------4-----4--4--2--2--------4--------------------

E----------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------------
A-------4--4--4--4-----2-----------------6--4--------------------
E----4--------------4-----4--4--2--2--0--------------------------

That is the bass line anyway just incase you can fit it in
somehow.
