Prodigal Me
Shane Barnard & Shane Everett
Key: A chord diagramE MajorE

tabbed & chorded by weksa

tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch v=sMt13nKWUHM

*This tab+chord sheet focuses on Shane B's guitar
from the live performance at Barry's Coffee House, Waco, TX, 2001.

*Cut capo on 2nd fret
(However, a normal capo could be used if you mute the proper strings)
 Chords relative to cut capo.
No chords will involve fretting in the same fret as the capo,
 so "0"s on the 6E, 2B, and 1e strings = play open.

*The (0) shown on the first A chord diagramA augmentedA chord means that you don't really need
to play it, because it's the same note as the 3 on the A chord diagramBB string.
I personally don't pick it, but if strumming then I'll include it.
I leave the 0 in the rest of the chord sheet, just for simplicity.

*To distinguish between the two D's, I name them D1 and D2.

Alternate Picking Pattern (if too hard, just focus on strumming the chords):
   D1 D2

A chord diagramA augmentedA|-(0)---0----2----2----0----------------------------------------|
A chord diagramE MajorE|-(0)-----------------------------------------------------------|
These zeros are in parentheses because I think Shane A chord diagramBB mutes them, letting Shane E's
guitar play the bass notes.
Since I play by myself, I would play the base notes.

(a) prodigal me
(b) the Master/Father
(c) the Master/Father's servants

(b) the Master/Father
(c) the Master/Father's servants

(a)
What have I done to get me here?
Unraveled and undone, I need my Father
What have I done? I've followed my feet to nowhere
Now I'm here! as I ran, I can run no more
Prodigal me

The mountains to the west, I hear them laugh at me
They know I'm scared to cross and leave this life I lead
Oh my pride! I give you up in barter for my freedom
What will they think as I come stumbling down to join their lives?

I need to cross this mountain and find my way home
I seek no greater fortune, rescue me
Oh unmerciful divide, be merciful tonight
Oh show me the other side
Prodigal me

(b)
The mountains to the east, they've swallowed My beloved
This house completely incomplete, where is My mortar?
Where did he go? He followed his feet to nowhere
Please come home, you¹ve done Me no wrong

Each evening I look down that road
I hope and I wait for you
and my servants they look down that road
we watch and we pray for you

(c)
Master, Master, who's that man stumbling down our road?
Could it be the one? Could it be the one? Could it be, could it be?
Master, Master, it's Your son
Coming home to join our lives!

(a)
I'm looking down this mountain, I see my way home!
There is no greater fortune I believe
Oh unmerciful divide, you laugh at me no more!
Oh I've reached the other side!
Prodigal me

(b)
Could I be the one? Could I be the one? Could I be, could I be?
Father, Father, we're Your sons
Coming home to join Your life!

We've finally crossed this mountain, and found our way home
We seek no greater fortune than Jesus
Oh how merciful is our God, Who gave His only Son!
Oh we worship You tonight!
