Thank You For tab by Hall And Oates

Guitar Tab

This is all my own work, yada yada. I mean, seriously, how many
people actually own Hall & Oates' first album?

"Thank You For.."
 Daryl Hall & John Oates
From the album "Whole Oats" (1972)

This is such an obscure song that nobody knows, so what a waste of
time this is. I've only played guitar since
September, so I can't guarantee this is that good, either. I think I
bit off more than I can chew with all
these weird/difficult chord shapes, key changes, etc. I guess I
didn't give John Oates' guitar skills enough
credit, because this isn't exactly a simple campfire song. "I'm
Sorry" took me about 2 minutes to tab out, and
this took me about 4 hours.

On that note:
I use a pick to play it, but fingerpicking should work pretty good
too if you choose. I've tried to stay true
to the picking pattern, but there's some little variations that I
probably missed. Whatever.

Also, for a lot of these chords, you're probably going to have to use
your thumb to fret the low E string. Just
play around with it and see what works best.

And somehow, after all of that..we're back to the main theme, only
modulated down (yes) to the key of F#/Gb.

This is 2:25 into the song, when Daryl Hall's electric piano comes
in.

G7 (The string arrangment comes in here, and were
back to the original key of G again)

"As I packed up.."

This part uses the C C/B C/A chord progression, already shown
above. The rest of the song is all repeats
of previous parts. And you can't really hear much guitar in the end,
due to the overpowering strings (which are
a bit schmaltzy if you ask me)

Whew. Sorry for doubting you Oates, you really are a good guitar
player.
