Baby chords by Lloyd Cole

Guitar chords with lyrics

  • Capo on 3rd
In the verses, you can play the C5addC# Cm combo as Fm Cm also. There's a C# in there somewhere, but it
isn't crucial.

Also, the Eb sounds better with the G as the root note (i.e., a first inversion),
especially if you are arpeggiating it (G Bb Eb Bb)

I also tabbed this for no capo (in C minor), but it will be easier to play on guitar with Capo on 3.

Verse 1:
Cm D7
Wasting my time
  Gm Cm
A shadow on the riverbank
Eb Gm Cm
Watching my reflection go to sea
Cm D7
Wind in my hair
Gm Cm
I could be most anywhere
       Eb Gm
But I do not care to know
            Cm
Not where I stand

Bb Fm
Baby, I've been lost without you
        Ab Eb
Since I don't have a place to call my home

Oh, my sweet ba-by, must I empty my heart?

Must I take what I can get and make it my own?
             C5addC# Cm
As long as I love my baby
Fm Gm
I'm only lonely

Verse 2:
     Cm D7
She said not to call
Gm Cm
Said it would be best for all concerned
   Eb Gm Cm
If I just all but disappear
Cm D7
She loves you best
Gm Cm
And I love her nonetheless
          Eb Gm Cm
So I just listen to the voice on the machine, singing

Chorus 2:

Oh, my sweet ba-by, must I empty my heart?
       Fm Gm Cm
Must I take what I can get and make it my home?
