The song consists of two basic parts with the 3rd part and extended variation of the end of the Verse and Chorus. The song can be played with all open chords with the "F" chord being played either as a barre chord or in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th string version (recommended for the last Bar of the verse and chorus) 6 5 4 3 2 1 F 1 3 3 2 1 1 (Barre Chord) F x x 3 2 1 x (Alt Version) Intro and Verses (and Solo) | C / G / | Am / F / | | C / G / | F E-D C / | 1 2 3 4 1 2 + 3 4
I've put the beat counts for the Bar below the chord "chart" as the E to D notes in Bar 4 are effectively 8th notes. Using the Alt Version of F chord above the F note appears on the 3rd Fret of the 4th String so you can play F chord then the single notes E on the 2nd fret and D in the open position of the 4th string and into the C chord. You can also do the walk down as double stops for a bit "richer" sound. Since the song is in the key of C the E and D notes function as Em and Dm: 6 5 4 3 2 1 F x x 3 2 1 x Em x x 2 0 x x Dm x 5 3 x x x C x 3 2 0 1 0 The shift from the Em to Dm may seem a little awkward but it can be smoothly if you practice it. There are other options for this too. See below for the Break/Bridge Chorus | Am / G / | F / C / | | G / C / | F E-D C / | 1 2 3 4 1 2 + 3 4 The same concept here for the walkdown in Bar 4 as in the Verse/Chorus. The Break/Bridge before the solo works off the Bar 4 concept and it repeated twice. Bridge/Break | F E-D C B-A | G F C / | 1 2 + 3 4 + 1 2 3 4 This can all be done as single notes or can be done via full chords or double stops. Again the E and D notes function as Em and Dm. The A note also functions as Am. The B note technically should be a Bm7b5 but Bm will work OK as sub. Here's what I was fooling with: 6 5 4 3 2 1 F x x x x 6 5 Em x x x x 5 3 Dm x x x x 3 1 C x x x x 1 x (Or) C x x x 5 5 x Bm x x x 4 3 x Am x x x 2 1 x G x x x 0 0 x (Or) G x x 5 4 x x F x x 3 2 x x C x 3 2 x 1 0 As always...have fun! By the way I was using the version from Let It Be - Naked. It's seemed easier to pick things up. Tom
