Eleanor Rigby2 by The Beatles

Tabs

Eleanor Rigby
Written by Lennon and McCartney
Performed by the Beatles on the album "Revolver"
Arr. by Sam Anderson
Submitted by Jared Buchanan

This version was arranged for one guitar rather than two like the one
arr. by Ronald Sosa submitted by Gianpiero Ciammaricone
([email protected]) which, if I might add, is a great arrangement
(if you're playing with a friend). It is fairly simple, if you're
familiar with finger picking. It is written in Chord diagramG+G major and 4/4 time.
It is in AA-BB-CC pattern. The intro is the Chord diagramC majorC section. I pride myself
on the accuracy of the spacing.

Eleanor Rigby
Key: Chord diagramG+G major
Time Signature: 4/4

intro (Chord diagramC majorC section)

e-I-0========2-3-3/4-3-2-0==I---------------------------------I
B-I-1========---------------I---0---0---0---------------------I
G-I-0========---------------I-----2---0-------0---0-----0---2-I
D-I-------------------------I-------------2/4---2---2/4-------I
A-I-3========---------------I---------------------------------I
E-I-------------------------I-0---------------------------0---I

Play this twice then go to section Chord diagramA augmentedA

Section Chord diagramA augmentedA

e-I-----------------I-----------------I---------------I---------------I
B-I-----0-----------I-----0-3---2-0-2-I---0---0-------I---------------I
G-I-0-2---0-------0-I---2-------------I-----2-----2-0-I-2-------------I
D-I-----------2-----I-----------------I---------------I---------------I
A-I-----------------I-----------------I---------------I-3---3---3---3-I
E-I-0---0---0---0---I-O---0---0---0---I-0---0---0---0-I---------------I

e-I---------------I
B-I-----0-1---0---I
G-I-0-2-----------I
D-I---------------I
A-I-3---3---3---3-I
E-I---------------I

Play this twice then proceed to section Chord diagramBB

e-I-----------------I---------------I-3-0-------------I---------------I
B-I-----------------I---------------I-------3---1---0-I---------------I
G-I-2---0-2---0-----I---------------I-----------------I---------------I
D-I---------------0-I---2-----------I-----------------I---------------I
A-I-----------------I---------------I-3---3---3---3---I---------------I
E-I-0---0---0---0---I-0---0---0---0-I-----------------I-0---0---0---0-I

Play this twice and go back to section A. Play Chord diagramA augmentedA twice then play Chord diagramBB
twice. Next play Chord diagramC majorC (the intro) twice. Play Chord diagramA augmentedA twice, Chord diagramBB twice, and
finally play section Chord diagramC majorC twice.

I have posted an optional ending arr. by Sam Anderson.

After play section Chord diagramC majorC at the end for the second time, play it once again
and finally play this:

e-I---------0=====12====================I
B-I-0===3===------12====================I
G-I---------------12====================I
D-I---------------12====================I
A-I---------------12====================I
E-I---------------12====================I

When you play part Chord diagramC majorC the third time, you will begin to slow down when
you play the open Chord diagramE MajorE (low E, sixth string). On the last part where you
play the 12th fret of every string simultaneously, you will be playing
"harmonics." For this you will bar all of the strings DIRECTLY OVER
the twelfth fret (press down just lay your finger on the strings),
strum, and quickly pull your hand away from the guitar. You will know
that you have done it when the sound is higher pitch than just
strumming the open strings. It will sound like it normally would if
you barred the twelfth fret accept that it will have a ringing effect
to it. It gives a great effect!

NOTE: Throughout all of section Chord diagramA augmentedA and most of section B, you will be
playing the root Chord diagramE MajorE or Chord diagramC majorC on every count (as quarter notes).

Every other space is an eighth note. Every three spaces are quarter
notes and so on. The last measure (the opt. ending) is by no means
exact. You should go by feel and play it however you want.

===== means to hold out the note that this follows
