I play this on my 5-string but for the purpose of this tab there's only 4 as the g is redundant.
Tim Commerford plays 4 string bass guitars all tuned differently.
Some in E-A-D-G, D-G-C-F, Drop D, I saw him in concert playing this song on a bass tuned in B-E-A-D.
I've numbered each section in order from start to finish making it easier to follow.
The numbers above each line represent beats in a bar being 4 beats per bar.
This is how I play it and it sounds pretty good.

This is only 1/2 a bar followed by a whole bar then a 1/4 bar.
In this part what I like to do is:
1. Hold the note (5) through the whole bar
counting 4 beats. Halfway through the 4th
beat, slide it up to the 12th fret.
2. Hit high E (12th fret of the E string) at the
start of the 1/4 bar.
c. And slide that note all the way down to open E,
just before the 2nd beat comes.

You don't have to do all this but it sounds so good through my Behringer amp. In the 1/4 bar if I play it through the sub-harmonics processor it sounds like a roaring growl.

There are a number of ways to play this song and I've tried probably all of them but playing it this way is by far the easiest for me as I move around a lot while playing it. Hey being a good muso is one thing but being a good showman is something else entirely. Now try it.
