Layla tab

Layla was written by Eric Clapton together with Jim Gordon and they recorded it and released it with their band Derek and the dominos in 1970. A more famous version has been released on “Unplugged” in 1992. The Eric Clapton Layla guitar tabs below are for the new version.

There are two guitar parts in the song that really stands out and is one of the reasons why the tune is considered to be one of the best rock songs ever. Clapton and Gordon wrote those separately and put them together in the song. You can see the solos in detail in the Eric Clapton Layla tabs here. This is the second song about Pattie Boyd, Wonderful tonight being the other. She was Beatles guitarist George Harrisons wife when Eric fell in love with her and wrote this song. Eric and Pattie later got marriage. The song has six different layers of guitar. It was originally intended to be a ballad but after some work it ended up as a rock song.
