Chords with lyrics
Gone (The Pocahontas Song)
by Ziggy Alberts
Capo 9
The intro and first part of the verse use a modified form of these chords.
They keep the same notes on the bottom 3 strings, but the 3rd and 2nd string are always left open,
and the 1st string is always muted. For example:
G+G
---3---
---2---
---0---
---0---
---0---
---x---
Intro:
G+G - G/F# - E minor 7Em7 - C majorC x2
Ziggy does a lot of improv/riffing in the intro, it's different every performance.
The chords change slightly, starting at the "C" chord at "woke." Instead of leaving the second
string open, instead add the note D MajorD (third fret) for every chord.
Verse:
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
And I watch as the sun goes down, another day lost for now,
C majorC G+G
And I wonder where you woke up this morning,
G/F# E minor 7Em7
Cause it was just last night but oh your kiss, it was just a touch but oh your lips,
C majorC
She was beautiful,
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
We put our hands up to the sky, screamed the lyrics loud not shy,
C majorC
Then you put your hands in mine and,
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7 C majorC
They fit perfectly together,
For the first part of the chorus, drop the D MajorD note you added and go back to the first form of
the chords. Starting at the "G" chord at "as," add both the D MajorD note on the second string and
the G+G note (third fret) on the first string for every chord and continue this through the
chorus and refrain (until the G+G chord at "falling."
Chorus:
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
She looks like pocahontas but she wears these high top sneakers,
C majorC G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7 C majorC
With a button up she’s so indie but she’s really beautiful,
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
She grabbed me closer so I said hypothetically theoretically,
C majorC
she said nothing and well she kissed me instead,
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
as the sun starts to rise and the twilight night is thin,
C majorC
she kissed me for the last time & she was,
Refrain:
C majorC G+G G/F# C majorC
gone, gone as the daylight comes & I’ll probably never see her again (x3)
C majorC G+G G+G G/F# G+G
gone, gone as the daylight comes & I’m falling in love & I won’t pretend,
The second verse and chorus follow the exact same form and changes as the first.
Verse 2:
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7 C majorC
it was just a fling but that’s the thing, but I don’t know if I want you to hear this song,
G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7
would you sing-along would you, turn it off or turn it up, would you learn the lyrics and come
C majorC G+G G/F# E minor 7Em7 C majorC
see me the next morning because I don’t know what I want or what you want,
but the thing is,
C majorC G+G G+G G/F# G+G
gone, gone as the daylight comes & I’m falling in love & I won’t pretend
Outro:
