Trans Siberian Orchestra - A Last Illusion
Written by Paul O'Neill, Robert Kinkel, and Jon Oliva
from Beethoven's Last Night
Transcribed by Sterling Bond
-This song is an abosolutely amazing guitar song that has three
really great styles in it. It starts out with a basic somewhat
simple classical style then goes into hella fast metal and comes
alltogether in a big finale breakdown power surge type moment
with 'Ode to Joy.' Good luck with this, it can be extremely
difficult at some parts.
-I tune this to dropped D just for the ending but other than that,
you only use the low E string for 1 note, so changing the tuning
isn't necessary (except maybe for guitar II).
-About the 2nd guitar part: I definately hear a heavily distorted
guitar note held out behind the main part, but i can't tell if it's
chords or notes or how it's tuned... maybe you can. E-mail me
any suggestions or comments (shogunwarrior@gmail.com)

play the last three lines twice, try to pinch some of the high Es
the 2nd time through to give it another octave... it's tough...
1:28
there's another guitar here but it just plays a palm muted A on
quarter notes for a long time... you can try filling in spaces
with the A but then you won't get the full hold of the chords...

This part may be wrong because i hear another note in the chord
that I can't figure out, but it may be a violin. Please submit
suggestions.

There are 2 guitars here, too (I think). The 2nd part is written
after the first. It's just power chords but the effect is really nice.
Guitar I:

Now I guess you join Guitar II or take over Guitar II with the
chords |A, E, Gb, D, E|. Like I said at the beginning, I like to
play the song in dropped D so i can hit the low D power chord,
but it's not a major part of the song.
Guitar II (@2:47):
Listen to it and you'll figure out the rythms. I'm not sure if
it's dropped D or single notes or what but somehow i hear a lower-
than-E Db at the beginning... Do what you want. Here are the chords:
E, E, E, Db, Gb, (B,) E, A, G, Gb, D, E, E, E, A, A, D, E, A, A, D,
E, E, E, |A, E, Gb, D, E|x10 D, E, D, E.....
Just for fun, the violin soli after you quit:
e|-9--9--9-10-12--12--11-9------------------------9--10--10--10-9-----|
B|-------------------------12-10-12-10--10--10-12-----------------12--|
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
After the voices stop singing, I can hear a really vague and soft tap
solo or synth background part or something. Either way, if you like
to improv, you've got a good 16 bars to solo here however you like to.
You've got the chords, so this is your part. Have fun and enjoy.
