Tabs
This is my first tab, so... Yeah. I had a mosey,
and there weren't too many tabs that sounded good so
I had a fiddle and came up with this.
You can capo it if you like. I like capo 2 personally.
Tuning's standard.
Intro:
E MajorE|-----------------------------------|
A augmentedA|-----------------------------------|
D MajorD|-----------------------------------|
G+G|-----------------------------------|
BB|--2---2---0---0---3---3---3---3----|
E MajorE|----3---3---3---3---3---3---3---3--|
E MajorE|----------------------|
A augmentedA|----------------------|
D MajorD|----------------------|
G+G|----------------------|
BB|--2---2---0---0----3--|
E MajorE|----3---3---3---3--3--|
Verse:
E MajorE|-----------------------------------|
A augmentedA|-----------------------------------|
D MajorD|-----------------------------------|
G+G|-----------------------------------|
BB|--2-2-2-2-0-0-0-0-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3--|
E MajorE|--3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3--|
(so basically you strum the notes you played in the intro,
don't be afraid to hit the string below occasionally,
it gives it a little depth)
Chorus:
E MajorE|--2--2--2--|
A augmentedA|--2--2--2--|
D MajorD|--0--0--0--|
G+G|--0--2--2--|
BB|--2--0--3--|
E MajorE|--3--3--0--|
That progression also works for the bridge if you're working off the
'Up To Now'/radio version of the song but work out a strumming
pattern that sounds good to you. Hope it helps.
Lyrics:
The winter's marked the Earth,
It's floored with frozen glass.
You slip into my arms,
then you quickly correct yourself.
Your freezing speech bubbles
Seem to hold your words aloft.
I want the smoky clouds of laughter
to swim about me forevermore.
(chorus)
I will race you to the waterside
And from the edge of Ireland shout out loud
So they could hear it in America;
It's all for you.
The shells crack under our shoes
like punctuation points.
The planets bend between us,
A augmentedA hundred million suns and stars.
The sea filled in the silence
before you said those words.
And now even in the darkness,
I can see how happy you are.
(chorus)
I will race you to the waterside
And from the edge of Ireland shout out loud
So they could hear it in America;
