William It Was Really Nothing - The Smiths
from the album Hatful Of Hollow

Tabbed by Craig Johnson (c.a.johnson@hull.ac.uk)

This will allow you to play this track on one guitar and
it sounds pretty damn impressive - great party piece!

Here are the chords you'll need, get comfortable with them
first as you need to move between them pretty freely. The stretch to
the fifth fret on the Gadd9 is essential (its the add 9!) but most
of the other chords can be played wherever, but this is where I play it

* I think thats what this chord would be called :)

And now the track itself:

        Gadd9 Dmaj7 Fmin7 Bmin
The Rain Falls hard on a humdrum town

    Gadd9 Dmaj7 Fmin7 Bmin
    This......

           Gadd9 Dmaj7 Fmin7 Bmin
    Oh the rain.......

    Gadd9 Gmaj7
This town has dragged you down

    Dmaj7 A
    oh...... ooo oo ohh......

        Gadd9 A
    and everybody's......

        Bmaj7 B13
    and God knows..............

        Dmaj7 E6 Bmaj7 B13
God knows I've got to live mine.........

    Dmaj9 E

The chords to play under Johnny's guitar break:

    Gsus2 - G - Dsus2 - A6 - G - A6

Chorus:

    Gadd9 Dmaj7 Gadd9 A6 Bmin F#minb13 (Twice)
William.... William it was really nothing

    Bmin9 E9
    ... its was your eyes.....

Guitar break Chords again here but between the G and Dsus2 Morrissey comes
back
in e.g:

   Gsus2 G Dsus2 A6 G
A6
how can you stay with a fat girl who'll say oooooohh oh
oh oh

Then you're back to the chorus chords:

   Gadd9 Dmaj7 Gadd9 A6
   would you...... like ring

   Bmin F#minb13 Bmin9 E9
   I don't dream about anyone, .....except my----self

Then its just 'round in circles Guitar break chords/Chorus chords

The outro is just the end bit of the chorus chords......

   Bmin F#minb13 Bmin9 E9
   ohhhh ohhhhh ohhhhh ohhhhhh

Then some wierd reverse tape effects?
