When I Was A Boy I Thought I Was A Fish by The Smith Street Band

When I Was A Boy I Thought I Was A Fish chords by The Smith Street Band

Chords with lyrics

Ive managed to pick out to my best ability the chords to this song as it's my favourite
and they're aren't enough Smith Street tabs here!

Im not sure of all the licks and shit through it but I find playing it my your self on
an acoustic or whatever you can fiddle around with Chord diagramD MajorD and Chord diagramDsus4Dsus4 to kinda imitate it.

Also not sure of the name of the chord so when you see this D/C# its

e--2--|
b--3--|
g--2--|
d--0--|
a--4--|
e-----|

Chord diagramD MajorD
Walking back to my house the morning after the sugar cube and the
Chord diagramD MajorD
Heavens opened up and drowned the heat.
       Chord diagramD MajorD
With the trace elements tickling my spine,
        Chord diagramG+G
I took my shoes off and danced in puddles
                             Chord diagramD MajorD (Chord diagramDsus4Dsus4)
on the sudden downpour ghost town street.

Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramB minorBm Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA

Chord diagramD MajorD
Hello, my name is Wil and I slept through the millennium
   Chord diagramG+G
But what I wouldn't give to be young, dreaming and ten again.
Chord diagramB minorBm Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
It's New Years 2009, with what's in my system I won't be sleeping for a long time.
    Chord diagramD MajorD
And when I was a boy, I thought I was a fish and
Chord diagramG+G
I still love the ocean like when I was a kid,
Chord diagramB minorBm Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
But lately I have come to the conclusion, that I'm disappointingly probably human.
       Chord diagramD MajorD
And I've come a long way from those amphibious days and
  Chord diagramG+G
I'd like to thank the things I've seen, the friends that I've made,
      Chord diagramB minorBm
All the people that have hurt me, the times that I've been saved and to
Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
music, which has made me its most obliging slave.
      Chord diagramD MajorD
There's blood on this guitar, there's sweat between these keys,
      Chord diagramG+G
when I step forward to the mic it's with my tail between my knees,
   Chord diagramB minorBm
But we aren't here to fight, we are here to dance.
   Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
No, we aren't here to fight, we are here to dance.

Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And then the summer crept up like only a Melbourne summer can.
   Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
We ducked back in our alleys and pretended to hate our tans.
   Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And told each other one day, we'd all look back and smile,

Chord diagramD MajorD D/C# Chord diagramB minorBm
 Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
While knowing that we've been drinking ourselves to sleep for a long time.
    Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And now we're back at work and we're working on those numbers.
      Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
They're getting us in our sleep, we're having nightmares in our slumber,
        Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
About the dealers and the overheads we're going to have to pay.
Chord diagramD MajorD D/C# Chord diagramB minorBm Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
Just pass out, pass out, pass out, pass out.
                  Chord diagramD MajorD (Chord diagramDsus4Dsus4)
It's a job for another day.

*****The next bit is pretty much the same*****

And last night I kissed a girl that I met in a bar, which seems momentous given how
things are.
We made out all morning then slept in the afternoon and she said, "Wil, I think that I
can deal with you."
And I never found the right way to say thanks to Alex for keeping my head screwed on.
For telling me when I was wrong, even though I've known all along.
It's time to clean up, start a band, get back on the road again. Stay sober and
appreciate my friends.
So I'd like to say thank you to every single one of you for everything.

Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And then the summer crept up like only a Melbourne summer can.
   Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
We ducked back in our alleys and pretended to hate our tans.
   Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And told each other one day, we'd all look back and smile,

Chord diagramD MajorD D/C# Chord diagramB minorBm
 Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramA augmentedA
While knowing that we've been drinking ourselves to sleep for a long time.
    Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
And now we're back at work and we're working on those numbers.
      Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
They're getting us in our sleep, we're having nightmares in our slumber,
        Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
About the dealers and the overheads we're going to have to pay.
Chord diagramD MajorD D/C# Chord diagramB minorBm Chord diagramAsus4Asus4 Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramA augmentedA
Just pass out, pass out, pass out, pass out.
                  Chord diagramD MajorD (Chord diagramDsus4Dsus4)
It's a job for another day.

Hope it makes some kind of sense, I think its pretty close at least and is a decent
version to play by your self and sing along what have you. Comments/corrections welcome coz
If i can play it a better way Id love to know!

Tabbed My Mitchell Jones.
