Chords with lyrics
The acoustic version of Wound from the Machina demos shows how the later Pumpkins albums
actually do have Corgan's best song-writing to date, but they are let down by the
vision in production.
In the demo he is using some open tuning; you'd have to ask the man himself which, but
I've heard theories about something like Drop C.
These chords are an approximation in standard tuning with capo on 3rd.
Gadd9Gadd9 (3 x 0 2 0 x)
E minor 7Em7 (0 2 0 0 0 0)
D MajorD (x 0 0 2 3 x)
Gadd9Gadd9 (listen to the track for the pattern, there's a kind of hammer thing from 2 to 4
on the D-string)
Gadd9Gadd9
Wound opens reveal a broken man
Soon notions, blood on his hands
E minor 7Em7 (I just sort of flick from E minor 7Em7 to E minorEm here, listen to the track again here)
Stop, stop, pop tart
C majorC
Taste of your demands
Am7Am7
If you wait, I will wait
E minorEm D MajorD
If you taste, I will taste
Am7Am7
If you run, I will run
E minorEm D MajorD
If you love, I will love
Am7Am7
To my last prayer
Gadd9Gadd9
Tomb opens reveal a stack of gold
Cool poison, the taste of growing old
Sit down, downtown
In your tower of steel
Am7Am7
If you wait, I will wait
E minorEm D MajorD
taste, I will taste
Am7Am7
If you run, I will run
E minorEm D MajorD
love, I will love
Am7Am7
To my last prayer
E minorEm D MajorD
My last prayer
Am7Am7
To my last prayer
D MajorD (in the demo this is some nice inversion in the opening tuning that we can't get here)
Am7Am7 E minorEm D MajorD
Wound opens reveal a broken man
Am7Am7 E minorEm D MajorD
Soon notions, blood on his hands
(the A minorAm chords in this next chorus are different too. I just use E minor 7Em7 instead of a plain
E minorEm to get a bit of variety here.)
Am7Am7
If you wait, I will wait
E minor 7Em7 D MajorD
taste, I will taste
Am7Am7
If you run, I will run
E minor 7Em7 D MajorD
love, I will love
Am7Am7
To my last prayer
E minorEm D MajorD
Am7Am7 E minor 7Em7 D MajorD
If you wait, if you wait
Am7Am7 E minor 7Em7 D MajorD
If you wait, if you wait
