Why Modern Radio Is A-ok by Roman Candle

Chords with lyrics

Why Modern Radio is A-OK – Roman Candle

Chord diagramC majorC
I was down at my favorite watering hole
Chord diagramE minorEm
With a buddy of mine that was out on parole
Chord diagramFF
And we were flipping through the jukebox,
Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
And talking how we’d been and how we are.

Chord diagramC majorC
He got a library card and he’d pierced his tongue
Chord diagramE minorEm
And a buddy in prison had turned him onto Neil Young
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
And he thought it’d be best to play some for the entire bar.

Chord diagramC majorC
Now he didn't know it but while he was in Jail
Chord diagramE minorEm
I had my heart broke by a woman too wondrous to tell
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
And we’d fallen in love to half the songs that jukebox played

Chord diagramC majorC
So when he flattened his dollar on the side of the machine
Chord diagramE minorEm
And I saw comes a time come on the karaoke screen
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
I realized there was a couple things I had forgot to say:

        Chord diagramFF
Don't play Neil Young
        Chord diagramC majorC
Don't play Van Morrison
Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
Just let some high school emo band start versing and chorusing
Chord diagramDmDm Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
Because there’s no way it will break my heart as far as I can see
                       Chord diagramC majorC
And that's why modern radio is Chord diagramA augmentedA ok with me.

Chord diagramC majorC
He said a pop song used to be a powerful thing,
Chord diagramE minorEm
You could turn on the am and John Lennon would sing
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
Or Frank Sinatra would be talking to all of the girls.
Chord diagramC majorC
And you could think like a hawk or think like a dove
Chord diagramE minorEm
Or think of a winter afternoon when you fell in love and
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
Ten songs on a record sounded like a string of pearls.

Chord diagramC majorC
Well my buddy rattled on till an hour’d gone by
Chord diagramE minorEm
And I thought I'd spit a mouthful of Beam in his eye
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
Maybe leave him for dead, but a friend is a friend to stay.

Chord diagramC majorC
So I listened to him talk about Johnny and June
Chord diagramE minorEm
And how "I Don't Know Where I Stand" is a true love tune
Chord diagramFF
And I bought another round just in time to hear him say:

          Chord diagramFF
They don't play Sam Cooke
          Chord diagramC majorC
They don't play Merle Watson
Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
They just trade some Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham for a broke down Datsun
Chord diagramDmDm Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
And theres no way it can break my heart as far as I can see

And that's why modern radio is a sack of monkeys to me.

Harmonica Solo:

Chord diagramC majorC
He said it makes me so mad I want to get out and shout it
Chord diagramE minorEm
And I smiled and said I hadnt thought that much about it
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC minorCm Chord diagramG+G
And we walked out to the street and parted ways

Chord diagramC majorC
I mightve gone to a movie, but my money was spent
Chord diagramE minorEm
So I went straight home, and Lord knows where he went
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
But I wrote myself a letter to all modern djs

        Chord diagramFF
Don't play Bob Dylan
        Chord diagramC majorC
Don't play Loose Ends
Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
Don't play anybody that's ever heard Sir Patrick Spens
Chord diagramDmDm Chord diagramE minorEm Chord diagramFF Chord diagramG+G
Because there's no way it can break my heart, as far as I can see
                      Chord diagramC majorC
And that is why modern radio is A-OK with me.
