Waiting For The Light To Turn Green chords by Gretchen Peters

Guitar chords with lyrics

Tuning: Standard

Song: Waiting for the light to turn green
Artist: Gretchen Peters
Album: The secret of life

CAPO: 2nd fret (Sounds in the key of A)

Chord names and fret positions are relative to the capo:
G  = 3x0003    Gsus2 = 3x0233    D4        = 200233
G9 = 3x0203    Cadd9 = x32033    G/B       = x20033
G4 = 3x0013    Csus2 = x30033    Cmaj7     = x32003
G6 = 3x2003    C     = x32013    Cmaj7sus6 = x32203
G5 = 3x0033    D     = 200232

The chords above are the ones Gretchen uses live. You could play the G5
as a power chord as on the record (355xxx), but the way Gretchen plays
the G5 makes it a much smoother transition to the C chords. She also
breaks the G5 riff up by playing an occasional open bottom E,
and sometimes hammering on an E on the 4th string, (as in the intro)
which in both cases makes it a passing G6. The Gsus2 is something
Gretchen plays live on her acoustic, but is only subtly suggested on
the record, as the G5 power chord dominates the mix.

    It's raining in my coffee cup,
G5                                  Cadd9  Csus2  Cadd9  Csus2
    Coming down since I got up to - day,

Cold and grey,

    Looking in my rear view mirror, I could be anywhere,
G5             Cadd9  Csus2  Cadd9  Csus2
    But here I am,
         G5   Gsus2  G5  Gsus2  G5
Traffic jam!

All a - lone?

D                    D4     D
   And over in the passing zone,
D4  D                       D4         D  G/B    Cadd9
       All wrapped up in - side their own day - dreams,
          C                            G         G9    G4    G
They're waiting for the light to turn ...green,
D                 D4    D
   Do they wonder who I am?

Waiting for the light to turn ...green!
