Leaving On A Jet Plane tab by Peter, Paul And Mary

Guitar Tab

"Leaving On a Jet Plane"
by Peter Paul and Mary
interpreted by Jeff Kollasch

The chords on the origional tab are good, but here is my interpetation of
the melody in the key of D. I figured it out one day jamming with a midi
file. I will show the chords above the tab. The idea is to finger pick the
chords and work the melody into it. I think the chords sound better with the
melody. Pretty simple. I don't play the bass notes for the G chord when
its uncomfortable just so the melody's easier to pick. Its my first tab so
be nice. Also, If Peter Paul or Mary are reading this I'd like you to know
I'm 16 and I still think you guys rock. Your music will never die.

	And here are the lyrics...

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go.
I'm standing here outside your door.
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.
But the dawn is breaking, it's early morn'.
The taxi's waiting, it's blowing it's horn.
Already I'm so lonesome I could die.

So kiss me and smile for me,
tell me that you'll wait for me,
hold me like you'll never let me go.
'Cause I'm leaving on a jetplane,
don't know when I'll be back again.
Oh babe, I hate to go.

There's so many times, I've let you down.
So many times, I've played around.
I tell you now that they don't mean a thing.
Every place I go, I think of you.
Everything I do, I do for you.
When I get back I'll bring your wedding ring.

(Chorus)

Now the time has come, to leave you.
One more time let me kiss you.
Then close your eyes and I'll be on my way.
Dream about, the days to come.
When I don't have to leave you alone.
About the times I don't have to say...

(Chorus)

And there you have it. A truly timless little tune. I really like it in D.
