NOTE: In the VERSES T implied what he is playing by using chords B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G.
What is really done is what I call a `walk up` from the B minorBm to the G+G
chord. It is played on the A augmentedA string and goes from the 2nd fret to the
4th and then 5th fret and then to the G+G chord. You can choose which
way you want to play this. I do it bothways depending on what mood I
am in. Please keep this in mind when playing and rating this tab.
GREAT GRANDADDY`S WAR
THE MULLIGAN BOTHERS
CAPO: 4th FRET
INTRO:
NONE
VERSE:
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
I can`t remember the last time I saw you smile
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Just faces made with pictures from across the aisle
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
I was born on this team I was born to win
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Lord have mercy on the others and forgive their sins
CHORUS:
A augmentedA G+G D MajorD G+G
I know that I`m supposed to be angry
A augmentedA B minorBm G+G
For the life of me I can`t figure out what for
A augmentedA B minorBm D MajorD G+G
If I can lie down with someone who loves me
G+G A augmentedA B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Instead of dying in my great-granddaddy`s waaaaaaar
VERSE:
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
We were born here crying with our egos bruised
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Below the Mason Dixon with the red state blues
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
We`ve got a lot of heroes here screaming southern pride
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
But a hero`s just a villain to the other side
VERSE:
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
There`s a hundred years of bitterness in our blood
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
And it flows with the conviction of a forty-day flood
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Until we`re out of ammunition and the rivers run red
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Over what Jesus meant but what he never said
CHORUS:
A augmentedA B minorBm D MajorD G+G
I know that I`m supposed to be angry
A augmentedA B minorBm G+G
For the life of me I can`t figure out what for
A augmentedA B minorBm D MajorD G+G
If I can lie down with someone who loves me
G+G A augmentedA B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
Instead of dying in my great-granddaddy`s waaaaaaar
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
B minorBm A augmentedA D MajorD G+G
BREAK:
A augmentedA B minorBm
Oh pass me down that passion
D MajorD G+G
In those blue eyes
A augmentedA B minorBm G+G
Give me that strong back and thinning hair
A augmentedA B minorBm
I`ll take those callused hands
D MajorD G+G
And I will use them for good
A augmentedA B minorBm G+G
But let me choose my own cross to bear
E minorEm
`Cause they`re heavier down here
D MajorD G+G
I swear they`re heavier down here
CHORUS:
A augmentedA B minorBm D MajorD G+G
I know that I`m supposed to be angry
A augmentedA B minorBm G+G
For the life of me I can`t figure out what for
