(tabbed by James Purdy. This is my first tab so send comments, corrections, or hate mail
to alabaster21m@yahoo.com. This is a song I always wanted to learn but never found the
chords or was able to translate the original version on piano by Morrissey. However I
was able to translate an almost identical (Chord wise) acoustic version by Colin Meloy
on "Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey." I found help with lyrics from "It May All End Tomorrow"
at http:/www.compsac.man.ac.uk/~moz/ Help with defining chords at

Verse 1:

A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramG6G6 Am/E A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6
I'm standing in the dock. With my innocent hand on my heart.

A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramC7/EC7/E A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC majorC A chord diagramC7/EC7/E
I've changed my plea. I've changed my plea to guilty.

        A chord diagramFF A chord diagramE MajorE Am/E A chord diagramFF A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6
Because freedom is wasted on me. See how your rules spoil the game?

Verse 2:

A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramG6G6 Am/E A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E
Outside there is a pain. Emotional air raids exhausted my heart,

         A chord diagramG6G6 Am/E A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramC7/EC7/E
and it's safer to be inside. So, I'm changing my plea,

A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramC7/EC7/E A chord diagramFF A chord diagramE MajorE Am/E
and no one can dissuade me. Because freedom was wasted on me.

A chord diagramFF A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6
See how your rules spoil the game?

Verse 3:

A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramG6G6 Am/E A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6
Something I have learned, if there is one thing in life I've observed,

A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramG6G6 Am/E A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramC7/EC7/E
it's that everybody's got somebody. Ooh no, not me.

A chord diagramFF A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E A chord diagramC7/EC7/E A chord diagramFF A chord diagramE MajorE Am/E
So I've changed my plea to guilty. And reason and freedom is a waste.

       A chord diagramFF A chord diagramGbGb A chord diagramG6G6 A chord diagramC/EC/E
It's a lot like life.
