This is my 'acoustic' tab of this song. Ideally you need two people to make this work with the
lead in the break down. This is tabbed/derived from a live full band video.
The tuning is Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-eb in the live video, which works great for a pair of
electrics/fullband, however for solo acoustic i have changed the tuning to:
Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-D
Basically it means you can play the open higher strings to give it a thicker sound.
VERSE 1:
The bass notes can be tricky to fit in but keep trying.
The three basic phrases are:
D |------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Gb|-8------------------8----------------9----------------------------|Let ring
Db|------9------------------9----------------9-----------------------|Let ring
Ab|----------6------------------7-----------------7------------------|Let ring
Eb|-7--7---7-----------0--0---0---------9--9---9---------------------|

Accuracy Rating: - Votes: -
when it hits 'one good night of sleep per year' play:
D |-------|
Bb|-------|
Gb|---11--|
Db|---9---| Then before it kicks in to the second verse strum it 8 times quick. listen
Ab|---7---| to the song you'll see what bit I'm on about.
Eb|---0---|
The chords used (well, that i use for acoustic) are:
(Some of the names may be slightly wrong)
Bb EbMaj7(1) Cm9 EbMaj7(2) Gm7
D |--0-----0--------0-------0-------0-----0--|
Bb|--0-----0--------0-------0-------0-----0--|
Gb|--4-----8--------9-------4-------4--OR-4--|(Whichever you prefer/can manage
Db|--4-----9--------9-------2-------4-----4--|
Ab|--2-----7--------X-------2-------X-----2--|
Eb|--------0--------9-------0-------4-----4--|
NOTE: If you're playing this electric/full band some of these chords you'll want to simplify.
Breakdown Guitar 2:

Gb|-------6---6-4-4--------6---4-6---------6---6-4-4---s6-4-4---4-4--|

Db|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Ab|------------------------------------------------------------------|

Verse 3 Guitar 2:
This was a pain to tab as it's quite quiet in the mix, but im 90% sure it is right.
D |----------12~---------12~----------12~-----------12~--|
Bb|-------12-12~---------12~-----11---12~--------12-12~--|

(VERSE 1 PICKING AND FINAL CHORD)
There's a tombstone in the brush with your name on the front,
But I had no bucks to get "Here lies, they ran out of luck"
On the back of it
Sharp as a tack but in the sense that you're not smart, just a prick
And my finger on my toe,
With the sad holes of the weight on my chest
On the weight of my chest
But every treble in your voice
Stored goes in my ears
One good night of sleep per year
(VERSE 1 PICKING ENDS)
[VERSE 2]
Bb
There's a tombstone in the brush with your name on the front,
EbMaj7(1)
But I had no bucks to get "Here lies, they ran out of luck"
Bb
On the back of it
Bb
Sharp as a tack but in the sense that I'm not smart, just a prick
EbMaj7(1)
And the fingers and the toes of all of those that show interest in me
Bb Cm9 Gm7
And from where I'm standing, looks like I'm way long overdue
Cm9 Gm7
I know what you meant when you said,
"Fuck you!"
Cm9 Gm7
Breaking I've never felt so cool,
EbMaj7(2)
And now I'm tired and now I'm dead to me
[BREAKDOWN]
gtr2 plays breakdown lead whilst guitar 1 plays:
Bb Ebmaj7(2) Gm7 Ebmaj7(2) (listen for strumming)
[VERSE 3]
Bb (3 strums per chord here) EbMaj7(2)
Can we act like we never broke each other's hearts?
Gm7 EbMaj7(2)
And we smile, I don't know how you felt from the start
Bb (listen for strumming)
Oh, that's right, oh, I'm cool,
EbMaj7(2)
Oh it's goddamn mean
Gm7 EbMaj7(2)
I sure as hell know one thing, I'm sure you're dead to me
There's a few chords here and there im missing which are mostly just decoration, but i
don't play them in my acoustic version. They're easy to figure out if you need them for a full band. Obviously
i haven't written out the strumming patterns or timings, but you should be able to listen for those. Any
questions hit me up at
