Camp Chase by Traditional

Tabs with lyrics

Greetings

Here's another flatpick arrangement of an old-time fiddle tune - "Camp
Chase." This one was composed by Solly Carpenter, a prisoner at Camp Chase,
a Civil War prison camp near Columbus, Ohio. Supposedly Carpenter won his
release by composing and playing this tune in a prison camp fiddler's
contest.

This is "crooked" tune - the Chord diagramA augmentedA part is four measures repeated once, and the
Chord diagramBB part is 10 measures(!), instead of the usual eight-measure grouping.
This, and a couple of oddly-placed triplets in the Chord diagramBB part gives it kind of
a funky, unpredictable feel.

I've tabbed it and indicated the chords in G, but it's generally done in A,
so put your capo at the second fret.
