White Wine In The Sun by Tim Minchin

Chords with lyrics

Capo V (Original key Chord diagramFF)

Chord diagramC majorC
I really like Christmas
     Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC majorC
It's sentimental, I know, but I just really like it
Chord diagramC majorC
I am hardly religious
      Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC majorC
I'd rather break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu, to be honest
        Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramG7G7
And yes, I have all of the usual objections to consumerism
                     Chord diagramFF
To the commercialisation of an ancient religion to the westernisation of a dead Palestinian
                      Chord diagramC majorC
Press-ganged into selling Playstations and beer
          Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramG6G6 Chord diagramG7G7
But I still really like it

Chord diagramC majorC
I'm looking forward to Christmas
         Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC majorC
Though I'm not expecting a visit from Jesus
         Chord diagramG+G
I'll be seeing my dad
Chord diagramG7G7 E7/F Chord diagramA minorAm
My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum
      Chord diagramAm/GAm/G Fmaj7/F
They'll be drinking white wine in the sun
         Chord diagramG+G
I'll be seeing my dad
Chord diagramG7G7 E7/F Chord diagramA minorAm
My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum
      Chord diagramAm/GAm/G Fmaj7/F
They'll be drinking white wine in the sun

Chord diagramC majorC
I don't go in for ancient wisdom
        Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC majorC
I don't believe just 'cos ideas are tenacious it means they're worthy
Chord diagramC majorC
I get freaked out by churches
Chord diagramFF Chord diagramF minorFm Chord diagramC majorC
Some of the hymns that they sing have nice chords but the lyrics are dodgy

        Chord diagramG+G
And yes I have all of the usual objections
       Chord diagramG7G7 Chord diagramFF
To the mis-education of children who, in tax-exempt institutions,
Are taught to externalise blame
                              Chord diagramC majorC
And to feel ashamed and to judge things as plain right and wrong
           Chord diagramG+G Chord diagramG6G6 Chord diagramG7G7
But I quite like the songs

Chord diagramC majorC
I'm not expecting big presents
       Chord diagramFF Chord diagramC majorC
The old combination of socks, jocks and chocolate's is just fine by me
           Chord diagramG+G
Cos I'll be seeing my dad
Chord diagramG7G7 E7/F Chord diagramA minorAm
My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum
      Chord diagramAm/GAm/G Fmaj7/F
They'll be drinking white wine in the sun
         Chord diagramG+G
I'll be seeing my dad
Chord diagramG7G7 E7/F Chord diagramA minorAm
My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum
      Chord diagramAm/GAm/G Fmaj7/F
They'll be drinking white wine in the sun

  Fadd2 Chord diagramC/EC/E
And you, my baby girl my jetlagged infant daughter
     Chord diagramDm7Dm7 Chord diagramG11G11
You'll be handed round the room like a puppy at a primary school
  Fadd2 Chord diagramC/EC/E
And you won't understand but you will learn someday
    Chord diagramDm7Dm7
That wherever you are and whatever you face
Chord diagramG11G11 Chord diagramE7E7 Chord diagramA minorAm Chord diagramAm/GAm/G
These are the people who'll make you feel safe in this world
          Fadd2
My sweet blue-eyed girl

  Fadd2 Chord diagramC/EC/E
And if my baby girl when you're twenty-one or thirty-one

Your brothers and sisters, your aunts and your uncles

This is a beautiful song to both listen to and play along to, however, being that it is the key of F, it is
hard work on the wrist, as you'd know, to play constant barre chords. So I decided to transpose what I had
worked out using a capo in the 5th fret. I stole this idea from Tim himself as there is a YouTube video of
him performing this song with Brian Cox on piano and Tim on guitar using a capo.

I find it much more enjoyable to play along to this way. Hope you enjoy. Please let me know if there's
anything you think might be wrong with it as I'm always grateful for constructive critisism. Cheers!
