"One" is from the forth Metallica album, titled "...And Justice for All". Released as a single in 1988, it was the first Metallica song to enter the Billboard top 40 hit charts. The song starts slow and clean, but becomes heavier and faster, leading up to a heavy tapping solo by Kirk Hammett, and a dual guitar section by Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield. "One" is filled with good riffing and excellent solos. No wonder why it is among the favorite Metallica live songs. When played live the guitars are tuned down by one semitone. This and the other songs on "...And justice for all" are, as you can see in the One tabs below, the most complex song structures in Metallica's discography. Metallica did a promotional video for the song, their first, which comes in two versions, one edited and one long with movie scenes.
