"Rise Up With Fists" words/music by Jenny Lewis from Rabbit Fur Coat (2006) transcribed by James This song is played with a capo on the 3rd fret. G is actually Bb, etc... Miss Lewis described her record on NPR as a "secular album". I'm not sure what this means exactly given that God seems one of the record's main themes. Miss Lewis makes use of Biblical allusions in many of the songs; and her own internal ontological struggle is seemingly reflected in many of the album's lyrics. There is even outright anger toward God in songs like "Born Secular" and "The Big Guns". Perhaps the indictment of religion found throughout is what is meant by the description of secular. Incidentally, Are the prophets in verse two, who are found cavorting in Vegas, Mormons?
