- Tuning: Standard tuning
My video lesson: https://youtu.be/cz5Z3O3FxjI While this is standard tuning GDae, the mandolin is tuned to 430hz on the band`s recording. Which makes it 39.8 cents flat of 440hz. This is not flat enough to warrant being notated differently. If you tune down a semitone to Gb/F#, you end up being too low again. Therefore, if you want to play along with the recording, you will have to detune your instrument to the above frequency or sound out of tune. Other than that, this tab can of course be played at the standard (or any) frequency, regardless. There are two mandolin voices. They are playing an identical melody simultaneously, but one octave apart. Both voices play every note with tremolo. I was initially wondering whether an octave pedal was used or if the track was doubled and edited in the DWA. But Josh was kind enough to inform me that he did record two separate mandolin tracks on a 50`s Kay electric mandolin for this. The band`s release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erYmE7zsbtw
