Taylor Ukulele by Jack Johnson

Chords with lyrics

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
               TAYLOR - Jack Johnson
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuning: GCEA

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chords:

C Em Am F

A|-3-| A|-2-| A|-0-| A|-0-|
E|-0-| E|-3-| E|-0-| E|-1-|
C|-0-| C|-4-| C|-0-| C|-0-|
G|-0-| G|-0-| G|-2-| G|-2-|
Each chord for the verse and chorus is played once with each strumming pattern, depending on whether it's a
verse of chorus and is played in the order shown above.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strumming Patterns:

Verse: DUDUXUDU

Chorus: DDUXUDU or DUXUDU

With the verse strumming pattern, I strum with my thumb and index finger pinching together, just sounds
a bit better in my opinion, it sounds a bit duller than if you strummed with your entire hand. Also with the
chorus strumming pattern, it is almost the same, just got to get the rhythm right, and you can strum
normally, the chorus is louder than the rest of the song. Listing to the song helps to get it right.

When playing the last 8 chords, after the line; "Only stoppin by on his way to a better world".

Play the C chord (DD DUD), then Em, Am and F (DUDUD DU), then the outro.

It is a tricky riff to get, you just need to practice and listen to Jack Johnson play to get the rhythm,
practice always makes perfect.

[Intro:]

[Verse 1:]

     C Em
They say Taylor was a good girl, never one to be late

Am F C Em Am F
Complain, express ideas in her brain

C Em
Working on the night shift, passin out the tickets

Am F C Em Am F
You're gonna have to pay her if you want to park here

C Em
Well mommy's little dancer has quite a little secret

Am F C Em Am F
Working on the streets now, never gonna keep it

C Em
It's quite an imposition, and now she's only wishin'

Am F C Em Am F
That she would have listened, to the words they said

Poor Taylor

[Chorus:]

C Em Am
She just wanders around

F C
unaffected by

Em Am
The winter winds, yeah

F C
And she'll pretend that

Em Am
Well she's somewhere else

F C
So far and clear

   Em Am
About two thousand miles from here

C Em Am F

C Em Am F

[Verse 2:]

C Em Am F
Peter Patrick pitter patters on the window

C Em Am F
But Sunny Silhouette won't let him in

C Em Am F
And poor old Pete's got nothin 'cause he's been fallin'

       C Em Am F
But somehow Sunny knows just where he's been

     C Em Am F
He thinks that singin' on a Sunday's gonna save his soul

C Em Am F
Now that Saturday is gone

C Em Am F
And sometimes he thinks that he's on his way

      C Em Am
But I can see

F
That his break lights are on

[Chorus:]

C Em Am
She just wanders around

F C
unaffected by

Em Am
The winter winds, yeah

F C
And she'll pretend that

Em Am
Well she's somewhere else

F C
So far and clear

   Em Am
About two thousand miles from here

C Em Am F

C Em Am F

[Verse 3:]

C Em
Such a tough enchilada, filled up with nada

Am F C Em Am F
Givin' what you gotta give to get a dollar bill

    C Em
Used to be a limber chick, time's a been tickin'

Am F
Now she's finger licking to the man

C Em
With the money in his pocket, flying in his rocket

Am F C Em Am
Only stoppin by on his way to a better world

F C Em Am
If Taylor finds a better world

F
Taylor's gonna run away
