You Deserve Tab

Song: You Deserve (live version on This is Our God album)
Artist: Hillsong United
Album: In Chord diagramA augmentedA Valley By The Sea
Tabbed by: Luke Marshall- [email protected]

This is my second or third tab, first in bout 3 years but this is a Great Song! And
are absolutely no tabs for it. Sorry if it's lengthy, I just wanted to be through.
It really not hard, just repetitive. I watched the YouTube video for verse part just to
exact fingering. I play it with our youth group all the time.
We played it for the opening song of our fall retreat and it was epic! Great when you
harmony vocals, too.
Just comment or shoot me an email for help.

Effects:
Guitar1: good ole distortion, bit o reverb
Guitar2: four count delay at 3/4ish volume/level on tempo a bit faster than songs. Throw
some distortion and reverb. On choruses switch your pickup channel to the neck position
dampen delay. This way you never have to mess with it. Or just flip the delay off,
sounds fine.

Order:
Intro
Verse1
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Verse2
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Bridge x2
Instrumental [16 measures]
Chorus
End on Chord diagramC#C#

Guitar2: Lead
optional capo on 4 for droning G-string (don't really need it, just sound fuller).
for timing.
The 11s and 12s are held for 3 measures each playing 8th notes. The line is fluent I
didn't want to write out 24- 11s.

Verse 1:

Guitar1
          Chord diagramG#G#
What is this love, given to us,
          Chord diagramC#C#
It saved my life, through selfless sacrifice,
           Chord diagramG#G#
Although we fail, the cross prevails,
          Chord diagramC#C#
Forgiveness stands, you take me back again,

Guitar2: lead
"what is this love?" at this point the droning on the Chord diagramG+G isn't necessary so you don't
to play it

                       Chord diagramBbmBbm
To the truth that there's no greater love,

Guitar 2
Hard to hear, but can be heard better on live version. Starts right on 'you' of "you
me life".

G----8------------8------------10----------------------10----------------------|

A------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Repeat until "there's no greater love" and hit the Chord diagramBbmBbm (not vital)

CHORUS:
Both guitars play a sweet melody/ harmony. The higher part may sound off by itself so
be alarmed.
Guitar1 (octaves, more of the harmony)
          Chord diagramC#C# Chord diagramG#G# Chord diagramD#D#
Now in the darkness, God's light shines,
      Chord diagramC#C# Chord diagramG#G# Chord diagramD#D#
Christ forever glorified,
   Chord diagramC#C# Chord diagramG#G#
So come on, come on, sing out to God,
Chord diagramF minorFm Chord diagramD#D# Chord diagramC#C#
now with all we've got, we live,
          Chord diagramD#D#
For you our God

Right into the intro. Once singing starts go into verse part

Guitar2 (higher octave, more melody) [hope what I did wasn't too complicated]
Play these while the guitar is playing chords above. NOT THE SAME NOTES AS G1

"now in the", "Christ forever", "so come on, come on sing out
god"
   C#, G#, D#, C#, G#, D#, C#, G#, Fm, D#, C#,

          Chord diagramC#C#
The Savior King, alone in victory,
       Chord diagramG#G#
I step aside, give you my life,
         Chord diagramC#C#
For you to move, do what you want to do

PRE-CHORUS:
Same as 1st pre-chorus on both guitars

CHORUS:
Same. Both guitars play regular chords for sake of simplicity.
