The piece is in 
A augmentedA minor scale (5th fret), and easy to play once you get used to
play the octave riffs.
For the main octave riff, I always use my thumb for the lower strings of the
first 4 notes and play 5th note and octave slides with my index finger
and pinky:

I fret 6th and 5th string like so, but you'll find the most comfortable fingering
position for yourself after a few runs through the song. This is just the fingering
I use. Furthermore, fret 6th (low 
E MajorE) string with your thumb throughout the entire
song.
You can improvise on minor scales yourself and stretch the song to 5-10 minutes.
