Part 1

Intro

C not in time->|---|-> quick hammer-on and pull off
e---0-------0-------0---------|---|-----0------------------------
b---1-------1-------1---------|---|-----1------------------------
g---0-------0-------0---------|---|-----0------------------------
d---2-------2-------2---------0h2p0-----2------------------------
a-3-----0-3-----0-3-----0-3---0---|-2-3--------------------------
e-----3-------3-------3-----3-|---|------------------------------

At first, it might be easier to forget about the hammer-on and
pull-off and just play the open a-string. Also, it's good to
strum the C-chord at virtually any other point in the progression
additionally to the places where I have it tabbed.

Part 2

This part is used mostly as a familiar transition back into a verse
or into the chorus.

  C
e---------|---|-----0-
b---------|---|-----1-
g---------|---|-----0-
d---------0h2p0-----2-
a---0-3---0---|-2-3---
e-3-----3-|---|-------

For probably about 50% of the places where this applies, he leaves
out the first three notes of this riff and just plays main part.
Listening to the song on the Live Harrod & Funck album or Jason
Harrod's Living in Skin really helps too.

Part 3

Transitions within the chorus never include the first part of (2).

  C
e---------0-
b---------1-
g---------0-
d---------2-
a---0-2-3---
e-3---------

Once again, you can add the hammer-on/pull-off as shown
above. He plays it that way sometimes, but make sure
this basic riff is distinct.

Part 4

Transition in chorus from C to Am

  C
e---0-------0----
b---1-------1----
g---0-------2----
d---2-------2----
a-3---3-2-0------
e----------------

Part 5

Ending

C V--Strum up so that you hit the 3rd fret of the a-string last.
e---0-----X------
b---1-----1------
g---0-----0------
d---2-----2------
a-3-----2-3------
e-----3----------

Other than those parts, the rest of the song is pretty much strumming
chords in rhythm. Listen to the recordings to get the rhythm--I don't
think anyone can tab out how to strum in rhythm. Below, I have simply
written the lyrics with the chords in their appropriate places.

Chords for verse and chorus

Intro:
(1)

Verse:
 C F C
   C Am C
  C F G (2)
C F
        C Am
    C F G C (2)

(continue this pattern for each verse.)

Chorus:
C F C (3)
C F G (3)
C F C (4) Am
C F G C (2)

Next Chorus (after a few more verses):
C F C (3)
C F G (3)
C F C (4) Am
C F G C C7

Bridge:
F7 G7
         C7 F7 A7
A7 D7 G7 (3)

(play the chords to the last two lines of the chorus without singing)

(play the last verse quietly/speak words more than sing them)

(for the last verse, F(133211) often becomes F2(133011))

Final Chorus:
C F C (3)
C F G (3)
C F C (4) Am
C F G Am
F G Am
F G C (5)

If there are still some blanks that need filled in, listen to the
recording(s) a few more times or email me with a specific question.

For a version of this tab complete with lyrics, go to:
http://www.dickinson.edu/~padulab/harrodandfunck1.html . I have
permission
from Jason Harrod to have his lyrics on my site. To sort of prove that,
if you go to Jason Harrod's website and look under the news tab, there's a
link from his site to mine in case someone is skeptical. If you go to this
url,
it should be easy enough to navigate to the discography page with lyrics
and tabs. Also, if this tab is out of synch (the font should be courier or
courier new), then go to the version on my site because it is in synch
and in the proper font.
