I tried to make this so it's relatively close to the original piano backing.
It's not perfect but I think it sounds pretty cool.
Standard Tuning
Capo 1st fret

You'd want that friction of the pretty high 3 and 4 lying directly on top of eachother. But then there's this 'melody' from 3 to 4. The lowest notes of the piano (not the synth bass) go 3-1-5. You need that 5th for it to not sound wishy washy. ... . I found this impossible to realize on guitar. These are my thoughts and this is my best approximation. So feel free to edit this if you come up with something better! ********************************************************************************* {2} -A3add4, broken, when going out of Chorus1 e|--------17-------| -|you'd have BB|-------15--------| -|to shift this down G+G|------18---------| -|an ocatve on an acoustic D MajorD|-----------------| A augmentedA|-{Still ringing)-| E MajorE|-----------------| ********************************************************************************* {3} -picking pattern, second Verse: |--------Gadd9----------||--D---||--------A3add4--------||-Dsus2-| e|------5-------5-------5-------2-------5-------5-------5-------0-| BB|----3-------3-------3-------3-----2h3-----2h3-----2h3-----2h3---| G+G|--4-------4-------4-------2-----2-------2-------2-------2-------| D MajorD|5-------5-------5-------0------------------------------(0)------| A augmentedA|----------------------------------------------------------------| E MajorE|----------------------------------------------------------------| ? | (Stop on this note before "strumming into" Chorus2) ********************************************************************************* {4} -A/F#, picked, in the breakdown e|-9-------------| BB|---10----------| G+G|------9--------| D MajorD|--------11-----| A augmentedA|-9-------------| E MajorE|---------------| ********************************************************************************* {4} -Asus4, strummed, leading into Chorus2 e|5| BB|3| G+G|2| D MajorD|2| A augmentedA|-| E MajorE|-| ********************************************************************************* {6} -Asus4/F#, picked, in the Outro between 'grow's e|-5-------------| BB|---5-----------| G+G|-----7---------| D MajorD|-------7-------| A augmentedA|-0-------------| E MajorE|---------------| Couldn't get the F#F# into the bass here... ********************************************************************************* -chords for Chorus1 (they sound higher) E7: Gadd9: Dadd9: Aadd4: Asus4: e| 10| e| 5 | e| 12| e| 9 | e| 10| BB| 10| BB| 3 | BB| 10| BB| 10| BB| 10| G+G| 12| G+G| 4 | G+G| 11| G+G| 9 | G+G| 9 | D MajorD| 9 | D MajorD| 5 | D MajorD| 0 | D MajorD| 0 | D MajorD| 0 | A augmentedA| - | A augmentedA| 0 | A augmentedA| - | A augmentedA| 0 | A augmentedA| 0 | E MajorE| 0 | E MajorE| 3 | E MajorE| - | E MajorE| - | E MajorE| - | ? | For a nice transition into Verse2: take this shape but put your pinky on fret 11 of the D-String. then move it to fret 12.
