THE POWER OF INDEPENDENT TRUCKING – Big Black
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Ciarán Rooney

Tuning: Normal

“The Power Of Independent Trucking” is the first song on Big Black’s last studio LP, “Songs About Fucking”.
It’s a brilliantly raucous and explosive ditty typical of the band, clocking in at a neat 1:24 and based on
womanising asshole truck drivers.
Let’s go!

Intro And Main Riff:
Use the nastiest distortion you’ve got with a lot of treble. This is played HARD and FAST, so use your
non-playing fingers to mute the other strings as you hammer this one out.

Chorus (of sorts):
Powerchords.

Play the above x4, then repeat the intro riff, and then the chorus once again.
Middle Part:
Here there’s like a drum breakdown, where eventually a guitar comes in that sounds nothing like a guitar. It plays;

He probably uses harmonics to get that weird sound, I’m not really sure. I mean, fuck, it’s Steve Albini!
After that part, you play the Intro a few more times, and that’s it!
