Guitar Tab

YESTERDAY
	by John Lennon/Paul McCartney
	tablature by Jonathan Byrd

I have listed the basic chord progression above the tablature.
Sometimes the melody is part of the chord, and sometimes an extension
of the chord. I did not indicate which notes should be sustained. To
show the timing, I placed a ¨v¨ over each beat. I typically play the
intro, two verses, the bridge, another verse, and the coda.

The Beatles tabs for Yesterday

About Yesterday

From their popular album Help comes one of The Beatles most popular songs, Yesterday. It is a balad written by Paul McCarthney and is full of melancholy. Played on an acoustic guitar this is a guaranteed success on parties and concerts. You will get the whole song in the Beatles Yesterday guitar tabs below.

Paul has said that he got the song in a dream and wrote down the notes the next morning by a piano. The song came so easy to him so for months he was afraid that he had copied someone elses work. The song has been released on singles and Eps in many different formats and together with different songs. The image to the right is the Capitol seven inch single released in 1976. An EP with four songs was originally released in 1965. The song is, as you can see in the Beatles Yesterday tabs, played in in G major instead of F major. Paul used his Epiphone Texan steel-string acoustic guitar on the recording and they later added a string quartet. No other Beatles member is on the track.
