This song is very bass-heavy so at times the guitar gets drowned out or
may not be playing [but i digress]; basically, the intro and the verse
are all barred power chords [i.e. E is the lowest three strings barred
at the second fret, D is the lowest three string open, etc.]
It might be interesting to play it with open chords.
