The * represents root note over open strings with a D played on the B string. This should sort of hold for the DGA section which sounds alright if you just change the root (and 3rd for the G chord) and hold the D on the B and then don't hit the B and high E strings when strumming the A. Hack job all the way but I just had to play this song and since at least this much wasn't up I thought I'd submit it. Gorgeous song.
