Hey, big love to CDemmings173 for the first version of this tab, upon which this is based.

Having seen Gira live, he doesn't use weird tunings: just has his guitar in D Standard, and for this song he
puts his Capo on the 3rd fret (so 1st fret if your guitar is in Standard).

On record, the song is played with 3 guitars, with Gira just strumming the rhythm and 2 of Akron/Family
providing separate leads, but the overall effect can be recreated with just one guitar.

The chord progression remains the same throughout the whole song and goes as follows (relative to capo):

To recreate the effect of Akron/Family's leads, you can just play variations on the 2nd fret of the B & E
strings with your pinky. It doesn't really matter what you do specifically as the song is pretty variable.

although I do use them for the whole song).
