Grapefruit chords by Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties

Guitar chords with lyrics

Hey guys, this is my first ever post on here, so hopefully it turns out right. This is my favorite song on this
album so hopefully I got it right. I'm about 99% sure this version is correct, though there may be a few spots
missing a chord.

No capo, E-standard tuning
C: x32010
Csus2: x30010
F: 133211
G: 320033
Am: x02210
G*: 355433
Am*: 577555

One note, the Csus2 is usually a very quick switch from the chord. (Meaning, you only play the
chord once before switching back to C) Just listen to the song and you'll see what I mean.

F G* Am* G* F
I know we ain't spoke in so long, but I've gotta know, if I'm alone.
          C Csus2 C F C Csus2 C
If I start drinking, I'm gonna be the town drunk.
F G*
You always said I should lighten up,
                  Am* G F G* Am* C
I'm gonna lighten up. I'm gonna lighten up.

F C
So long. I'm sorry that I wasn't who you want.
G Am
If I can't make you happy, I'm no good for anyone.
F C
So long. I'm sorry that I wasn't who you want.
G Am
If I cant make you love me..

C Csus2 C F
C Csus2 C F

              C Csus2 C
I shut you out,
F C Csus2 C
after the funeral, mired in doubt.
F G*
You thought a family would help.
            Am* G* F
I was struggling. You could tell.
                  C Csus2 C
When we got the news,
F
That you were pregnant,
                 C Csus2 C
We painted a room,
F G*
Pink and orange like a grapefruit.
              Am* G* F
I know how bad you wanted this too.
                G* Csus2
I know it killed you.

Am G F C
In all my dreams, I'm in the house that I grew up in.
Am G F C
I'm trying to be half the man I know my dad is, or was.
Am G F
I see me as a father looking over a daughter,
                    C
Who grew up to be just like you
Am G F
And now, that's just a thread I can't hold onto.
             C
It's just an open wound.

F C G
So long. I'm sorry that I wasn't who you want.
                     Am
If I can't make you happy, I'm no good for anyone.
F C G
So long. I'm sorry that I wasn't who you want.
                      Am
If I cant make you love me..

              C Csus2 C F
Hey, Holy Ghost,
                                  C Csus2 C F
Why'd you leave me? Where'd you go?
                          G*
Right when I fucking need you,
           Am* G* F
I'm all alone. I'm all alone.

                    C Csus2 C
So, I'll start drinking.
F C Csus2 C
Yeah, I'll be the town drunk.
F G*
I'll be a burden on everyone.
           Am* G*
On everyone.
