Chords with lyrics
Intro: I like to mimic the cello part here with an open E MajorE string and some palm muting (shown with the * sign).
e|---------------------|
BB|---------------------|
G+G|---------------------| Repeat x2 (or however long you want. She does it WAY more times, but I think
D MajorD|---------------------| it sounds good acoustically just twice)
A augmentedA|---------------------|
E MajorE|-00-*-00-*-00-*-00-*-|
For the verses and rest of the intro, I play the Em, then right before I switch to the G+G chord, I add my first
finger to the second fret of the low E MajorE string and strum that once. Then I play the G+G chord, and right before I
switch to the A augmentedA chord, I take my finger off the low E MajorE string, strum that once and switch to the A augmentedA chord. So it
should look like this:
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G x2
VERSE 1:
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G
The time has come for giving up. I have lost.
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G
I wanted once to become what I cannot.
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G
Ohh oh oh oh oh ohoh Ohh oh oh oh oh ohoh Ohh Ohh Ohh
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G
Why come to me so full of dreams? Well, go on.
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G G+G
With feathered keys, you’re mocking me. I am locked.
E minorEm D MajorD G+G A minorAm G+G
It’s easier to pine, to pine.
When I switch from the C majorC to the G+G chord during "I can feel it...", I like to take my second finger from the
second fret on the D MajorD string and move it to the second fret on the low E MajorE string. I think it makes the transition
sound nicer, but you wouldn’t really have to play it. I called this chord a Cadd9/F# although I could be wrong
on that.
C majorC Cadd9/F# G+G
I can feel it through the fields of graves, a beating heart while
C majorC Cadd9/F# G+G D MajorD (strum once and ring it out)
Rolling hills are roaming through my veins and open arms and all is full of
G+G
Smoke.
E minorEm D MajorD Em/G* C majorC D MajorD G+G *Em/G : 022003

VERSE 2:
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G
The words you speak stir things in me that I thought were gone
E minorEm Em/F# G+G G/EG/E A augmentedA C/GC/G G+G
Their faint white heat melts cen-tu-ries deep in frost
C majorC Cadd9/F# G+G
I can feel it through the fields of graves, a beating heart while
C majorC Cadd9/F# G+G D MajorD (strum once and ring it out)
Rolling hills are roaming through my veins and open arms and all is full of
